I am excited to be providing another book development workshop in conjunction with Medium Photo in San Diego, CA, Developing a Creative Book workshop over four days, March, 19–22, 2020.
There is a slight change for this workshop from last year extending it to four days. All of the great feedback from those who have previously attended is a consensus that two days is just toooo intense for the material we needed to cover. Yes, the two days became pretty stressful for me as well as the others, as there is a ton of information to cover and discuss. Thus for 2020, we are expanding the time we spend in this workshop to four consecutive days. Cool!
And I know just how to use the extra time! Most of which will be spent on the editing, sequencing and fine tuning the flow of the images for each person’s project, which is critical to establishing a person’s narrative.
The goal for each of my book workshops is that everyone leaves with an improved visualization of their book project. To learn to create a book dummy, the real first step to publishing an art book or monograph.
And for me, very importantly this is NOT a software driven class (no software or PowerPoint presentations of any kind), with lots of hands-on stuff. This is a workshop about making a physical book dummy that provides the tactical feel for the book you are wishing to publish. Fun with scissors, tape and paste, oh my!
The workshop will occur in the North Park area of San Diego, a really nice and warm place to spend your early spring, especially if you have just dug out of the winter snow and ice. (Okay, it might be raining a bit, but better than any snow flurries)
Registration is open and I was just notified that some seating is still available, keeping in consideration that this workshop sold out in 2019.
Medium Photo 2020 Workshop: Developing a Creative Book workshop from March, 19–22, 2020.
Also during that week in San Diego is a Medium Photo 2020 Lecture Series; I will be presenting Artist Books as Art Objects, an evening lecture that is open to the public (& free) that will be a variation on a popular artist book talk that I am providing. This Medium Photo one-evening lecture will occur Friday, March 20th, from 7:30–9pm at the You Belong Here artist venue, located at 3619 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, California 92104.
Let me know if you have any questions,
